My musings on reading and writing

Books by the Banks

R. J. Palacio, author of The New York Times best seller children’s book “Wonder,” will be signing books at this year’s Books by the Banks.
This annual event on Oct. 12 from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m at the Duke Energy Convention Center promotes authors while celebrating the joy of literature and reading.
For writers who want to write a children’s book this event is a great opportunity to meet and talk with published authors. It is also an opportunity to learn more about what is being published and topics of interest for children.
“Wonder” is a chapter book about a boy with a facial deformity who wants nothing more than to be accepted as an ordinary fifth grader. The story shows how a community struggles with empathy, compassion and acceptance.
Other local authors and illustrators include Will Hilllenbrand with his book “Off We Go: A Bear and Mole Story;” and Jeffrey Ebbeler with his book “Tiger in My Soup.”
I will be there signing my book “Fingerprints on the Table.”
Hope to see you there.
